The last few months of 2014...

As you can see I finally managed to put together my recap of what we have been up to since moving to Maryland. Long overdue...per the usual with me right? Unacceptable too huh?! Well I promise to try harder in the new year. I have a couple posts lined up, one including a contest that I am SUPER excited about! So please keep checking back so you won't miss it (beginning of Feb...hint).

If I had been on top of my game I would have posted about all these little events individually, with a proper written synopsis, ah well. I spent the last few months working on the house, settling in, finding our Maryland groove and spending lots of time with family and friends. I hope you all did too. We had a wonderful holiday season and I am so bummed it's back to life as normal around here. No more Christmas trees or lights makes me a little sad :(. Only 11 months until I can put it up again.

We will start our little 2014 close out in September, right around the time we moved in. My Mom came to visit for a week and we had a wonderful time exploring our new area. And what amazing weather! Gosh I really miss summer/fall. This little California girl is having a harder time adjusting to the cold than she thought. Only 3+ months until spring. haha

Charlotte turned 2!! Cheers!!

We spent a lot of time outdoors enjoying the fall.

Mid October we met up with my bestie Jessica and her hubby Joe in Philly for a fun sports filled weekend!!

And Charlotte got to spend the weekend with Aunt Nikki and Uncle Mike.
checking out the Reston Zoo. "come closer so I can pet you!!"
We spent lots of time at home playing, and making some funny faces...

she has discovered nose picking lately haha

One nice weekend in October we went to a pumpkin patch down the road from our house. We got to pet a few animals, take a hay ride, and pick out the perfect pumpkins. Watching Charlotte choose a pumpkin, pick it up, carry it for a while, then choose another (and repeat), was hilarious. She finally settled on a cute one, just her size.

For our anniversary Matt and I got a little date night (thanks again to Nikki and Mike for babysitting!) at Volt in Frederick, MD. We were supposed to go there the day after our wedding for dinner but were too exhausted. So when Matt suggested it, it seemed perfect. And the food was amazing!!

The very next day we took Charlotte to see Frozen on Ice! It was part of her birthday present, perfect for our little Frozen obsessed monkey. She (of course) loved every single minute, actually we all did. Disney knows how to put on a show!

my favorite part

Surprise surprise, for Halloween Charlotte chose to be a Princess. I don't have a pictures of her actually trick-or-treating. We went to a trunk-or-treat, but it was dark by the time we got there and there wasn't any trick-or-treating in our neighborhood. She did a really good job though, usually just saying "treat please" haha.

On November 11 we welcomed our first nephew, Jack David Clute. Charlotte is thrilled to have a little cousin to hold and "pet". Congrats to proud parents Jim and Jen! Great job!!
he looks huge here, but she is actually slouching a bit. so cute

what a handsome little fella!
We took advantage of the last few nice days by going for walks around our neighborhood. We took turns pushing the stroller and walking Harley. He was a good sport.

A few days before Thanksgiving we all went down to National Harbor and spent a super fun family day together. We rode the ferris wheel...

Getting Frosty at the Ice exhibit. What a blast!

going down the slide...a lot!

prob her favorite part...riding the train
Then came Thanksgiving....

There were other people there too but these two are the cutest and well I didn't have any other photos. I guess I need to start being a little better at taking pictures!

After Thanksgiving we picked out our Christmas tree!!

Ah yea, Rachel was here for a visit over Thanksgiving too. We had a low key, fun time hanging around the house.

tree decorating time!

Matt's work had a holiday party in Dec and Santa visited! We waited a while for him to get there, and when he finally arrived we got in line so Charlotte could sit on his lap. She was very excited...all smiles while in line.

And not so happy once she actually sat on his lap. Was it because she didn't want to be there? Or because he was checking his list and telling her to be nicer to Harley?!
look at that face!!

death stare. haha
We had a holiday party in mid December for all our neighbors. We got to meet all our new neighbors and had a lot of fun hanging out. The only picture I took was of Charlotte before the party:

Christmas dress got a lot of use this year!

My favorite holiday....Christmas. My Mom came back for another visit and spent the holidays with us. We had Christmas Eve dinner at Nikki and Mike's house, then spent Christmas Day at home. It was a stay in your PJs and play with your toys kind of day. Perfect.

Every year Christmas gets better and better. Having a child makes it so much more special. And now that Charlotte is a little older, she knows who Santa is, that he brings us presents, and was so excited for Christmas morning. It is wonderful to see the joy on her face as she opens presents. It really brings you back to your own childhood.

Moms and daughters...where's Nikki and Suzanne?!

Aunt Karen and Jan also came by for a visit after the holidays. Again, no good pictures from that, but we sure had a great time hanging out with them for a few days.

And finally, as we kicked off 2015, we decided to start potty training again! I had given up a bit after thanksgiving, but now we are going full steam ahead. We are saying goodbye to diapers this year!!
